Opened in 1980, it’s been a cornerstone of Dallas’s LGBTQ+ scene for over four decades. The venue spans multiple levels, including two indoor bars and a spacious covered balcony that offers prime people-watching of the bustling strip below. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with a focus on creating a safe, inclusive space for all visitors. JR’s draws a diverse crowd, from locals to out-of-towners, and is known for its lively vibe any time of day—whether you're grabbing a midday drink or dancing on a Saturday night. The bar’s schedule includes drag shows, themed nights, and occasional RuPaul’s Drag Race viewing parties, making it a hotspot for entertainment. With friendly staff and affordable drink specials, it’s a great spot to start or finish a night out in Dallas’s vibrant gayborhood. The outdoor balcony is a fan favorite, offering a perfect spot to unwind while soaking in the electric energy of the Cedar Springs strip. What this neighborhood bar lacks in Bacon certainly makes up for in personality I been going here for years and honestly the best local watering hole in the area … all are welcome and the staff are easy on the eyes… Even when “bacon gate” started our Bartender- Taylor was more then accommodating with other option likes the Eric Nuggets …. Coming to find out they were all out of them as well…. Guess I am not that much of trend setter if I am ordering all the popular items … In all it was a great time and defiantly will be back with my people … 1 person visiting from Houston 1 moved here from East Texas and me and my friend from Chicago Stay loud and Proud JRs ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜💘

Stopped by for the first time and had a really great experience. The atmosphere was relaxed, the drinks were solid, and the service really stood out. Richie took care of us and was incredibly thorough and attentive. When I asked about getting a basket of fries, he didn’t just assume he actually walked me through the options and asked exactly what I was in the mood for. He mentioned crinkle-cut fries, waffle fries, tater tots, and even offered onion rings if I wanted to switch it up. It’s little touches like that like actually checking in and making sure you get what you want which make a place memorable. Great service, great vibe. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks Richie.

I visited Jr’s on a Sunday afternoon with a couple of friends. This is a typical gay bar and one of the busiest and biggest on Cedar Springs. I’ve been here a few times because my gay friends enjoy it. We decided to hang out upstairs on the terrace. I have a couple of critiques about the place. First, the music was very loud, making it difficult to have a conversation with friends. If you’re planning to catch up or chat, it can be quite challenging due to the noise level. Second, I found the drinks to be a little overpriced compared to the decor and service. While the atmosphere is lively and the terrace offers a nice view, the pricing doesn’t quite match the overall experience in terms of value. Despite these points, I had a great experience overall. The bar has a vibrant and energetic ambiance that makes it a fun spot to hang out. The terrace was a nice place to relax and enjoy the company of friends. If you’re looking for a lively gay bar with a bustling crowd, Jr’s is definitely worth a visit, even if it comes with a few minor drawbacks.

The staff here seem to work at two different extremes. While the gatekeepers checking documents are very friendly, the bartenders and waiters are very grumpy with customers. The drinks are also prepared, nothing special, it's not bad but nothing special either. But obviously the price is very high. But in return, the very fun atmosphere that this place brings is admittedly wonderful, the only thing is that the MC is quite ungainly when making sarcastic comments that look down on customers.

The worst night of my life for my husband and me. The transgender girl is a horribly rude and disrespectful person. She tried to hit me and my husband. The worst part is that this girl went out into the street to continue verbally attacking us. Then she screamed and grabbed another guy. I recommend that friends and people in the community avoid this place. The transgender girl makes the experience as uncomfortable as possible. If you don't want people, don't sell or cheat on them.
