About Missing Bar

Missing Bar is one of the busiest all-week options in Birmingham Gay Village, occupying its instantly recognisable red-brick corner on Bromsgrove Street. By day it works as a relaxed LGBTQ+ pub; by night the volume climbs quickly, with drag, DJs, karaoke and a crowd that is much more interested in having fun than standing around looking cool. The upstairs Studio 48 gives Missing another personality, hosting karaoke, cabaret and private events while the downstairs bar turns into a packed dancefloor on Friday and Saturday. If you are searching for a gay bar in Birmingham that is open every day, a drag night in Birmingham or somewhere to start early and still be dancing at 3 or 4am, Missing earns its place near the top of the list.

What to expect

A sociable pub earlier in the day that turns into a louder LGBTQ+ party bar at night. Friday and Saturday are the biggest dance-and-karaoke nights, with Studio 48 upstairs adding a second space.

This is my first ever review, & I had to write this up as I've never had such top notch excellent service from a bartender in Birmingham or around UK. I was waiting at the bar to order my drinks, and one bartender caught my attention ( his name was Joey, tall, smiley & friendly) and said he'll serve me, he was just busy serving someone before, and he came back to me, served me my drinks asked if I wanted ice and a straw with a friendly smile, I said yes to both. And throughout the night he remembered my drinks and remembered the little things such as ice and straws, very very polite and friendly and approachable. Any issues I went to him, ie - toilets, smoking area, closing times and etc I used to work in a bar many years ago, and if I was a Manager or in the Managerial role, I would be looking to make that young man Joey, to step the ladder to further his career, he's got what it takes and he is what makes bars superb and he has made Missing bar a place I would definitely visit again because of his impeccable service with a smile 😊

How are we doing girlies. We all love Missing as one of our favourite Queer venues in Birmingham. Open every day of the week? Best prices on drinks? Best vibes with music? However, I do want to talk about my server, April, absolutely phenomenal. She is my biggest opp, just because of how good she is at her job, I’m scared she’s coming for mine too. April is truly the most amazing person I’ve met. None bias. April, girl, you’re amazing. Thank you for being the friendliest at Missing! X

Extremely welcoming queer bar in downtown Birmingham, just in the middle of the gay village. Not the typical posh gay club, but sort of a social venue for all type of tribes. Perfect for an early drink to mingle with local unorthodox community.

Please bare in mind that my review is in reflection of my visit during Birmingham Pride 2026. I absolutely enjoyed my visit to Missing Bar. The atmosphere inside and out was electric! My boyfried and I saw many a cabaret performance at the bar during our visit, every act was hysterical, had a fantastic presence and had the crowd getting involved. The bar staff were polite, efficient and may I add a diverse bunch of people (which is nice to see that they're emoloyed on their skillset and not the usual trope of barstaff have to look a certain way). I did not use the toilet facilities during my visit. I was unable to confirm if they do food or not. The guest WIFI was amazing and the aircon was a lifesaver in the heat.

One of Birmingham's oldest gay bars, I attended a private event in the room above the pub one evening, but sat in the bar downstairs for a while as I arrived really early for the event. All the bar staff were really friendly, partly because I was game to try a double smokey bacon and horseradish gin n tonic which caused some hilarity:) it wasnt dire, but I only had one! Just had to be tried when I saw it!
