Sauna Oasis

WARNING: Blatant racial profiling and anti-Black discrimination. I am a Black man visiting from BC, and I was actively targeted by the desk clerk. He condescendingly asked me if I knew what a sauna was and what it was for, treating me with immediate suspicion. When a bilingual customer translated for me, the clerk explicitly admitted he didn't trust me because of my appearance and my Afro. This is gross racial profiling and microaggression driven by implicit bias. A business in the Gay Village should practice equity and inclusion, not systemic exclusion against BIPOC patrons. I have officially filed a police report and a human rights tribunal claim. BIPOC community, stay away. This business is discriminatory.

The incident occurred at around 3:00 p.m., not during the night. At that time, a man significantly larger than me physically harassed me: he touched me without my consent and followed me through different areas of the spa for approximately thirteen minutes. During that period, I tried to move away, avoid him, and remove myself from the situation, yet no one present intervened. Eventually, the man gave up and stopped following me. Shortly after, my partner appeared, and at that moment we decided to leave the premises for safety and well-being reasons. We went together to the central area not to request assistance —since we had already made the decision to leave— but because it was the exit point of the establishment. Still, the staff saw our state, and the situation was mentioned, yet the only reaction was an “oh,” with no indication of protocol, support, or willingness to address what had happened. We had paid for a 24-hour stay and were only able to remain from approximately 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the following day. The early departure was a direct consequence of the harassment I experienced and the complete lack of response from the staff. This resulted in a significant financial loss and a service that did not meet the essential standards of safety, respect, and care. I am also autistic and have attention deficit disorder, conditions that affect the way my brain processes danger and high-stress situations. This increases the responsibility of any wellness establishment to recognize signs of distress and act accordingly, which did not occur. The incident, combined with the institutional inaction, created an environment that was unsafe and emotionally disruptive.

Very clean although some areas look old. Nice staff. I recommend it

The lovely staff at two different occasions emptied my room. Once completely by mistake but they ""lost some of my belongings in the process " I had left after arriving in and settling in for a 24 hour. After 3 hours of being gone I came back and someone else was in ny room. Then during pride this year's my room was emptied without any sort of warning because I was 35 min late to renew a 24 hour rental . This place needs to make their rules known instead of inventing them on th3 fly if they are having a bad day. Not impressed in the least.
