Queens Court & Pride

The aptly named ‘Queens Court’ where many a ‘queen’ has indeed held court and, no doubt, will continue to do so looooong into the future. I have visited many times over the years, whenever I visit Leeds. This is a basic (well maintained, clean: strictly in terms of hygiene), city centre boozer which is really giving Wetherspoons a run for its money in terms of value for money and, importantly, service. It has a large outside terrace for the Summer months. The young guy who served me was hard-working, welcoming and efficient. They currently have happy hours from Sunday- Friday from 1600-2100: really great value. I had a large glass of red wine for £3.68! How was the quality of the wine here? This is what really made me appreciate this place: the day before, I visited a supposedly ‘up-market’ city centre bar and paid £9.20 for a large glass of house red. It was really bad: it had definitely been watered down, though this is sadly difficult to prove. Experiences like this make me appreciate HONEST, value for money places like this: well done to the excellent management! Recommended. TOP TIP: be aware that, like all value for money places (such as, for example, Spoons), things can become quite ‘lively ’ from time to time, but this is always well managed by staff. Recommended for a value for money night out.

Whilst the venue has had a slight refurb it looks extremely rushed and borderline tacky. Whilst happy hour has been extended, the Mixr loyalty scheme is no longer in operation, drink prices have increased and there is no public or guest WIFI available. A saving grace is many of the staff from the venues previous name Queens Court and Pride remain working here yet it remains to be seen if these changes to the venue will pay off, hopefully the negative points are temporary teething issues.

I went to hand in a phone that had been left in the bar. As it was very busy due to Pride, I stood to the side of the bar entrance, trying to politely get a member of staff’s attention so I could return it. Instead, a member of staff came rushing over, pushed me, and shouted that I wasn’t allowed behind the bar and that I didn’t work there. I was completely taken aback by how rude and aggressive he was. At no point was I trying to enter the bar or interfere with staff—I was simply attempting to hand in lost property. The whole situation was unnecessary, and to make matters worse, I never received an apology. I understand it was a busy event, but there is no excuse for treating someone who was trying to do the right thing in such an aggressive manner. I hope management addresses this and provides better customer service training to prevent it happening again.

I visited this place on Friday afternoon around 4pm, I had perfect, super polite service from the bar and the drinks was a good price I was one of four alone drinking guys at the time (more on this later) I went back to my hotel rested and came back and arrived back at 9.15pm, 100% soba I was then told by the door self because I was alone I wasn't aloud entry, due to heath and safety ! also told this applies to girls In the 35 years I've been going LGBT bars I have never been refused entry to a bar, I think it was down to my age or I wasn't a regular eitherway I felt disappointed, annoyed and angry, I was thinking about giving you 1 star but after my great service in the afternoon I thought this would petty and unfair, LGBT bars are about welcoming every one and this not the case on my second visit I feel your rule was just a excuse, if you rule was true why was the alone drinkings admitted during the day, if the rule applies during the evening would we be told to leave ? I think went to 3 other venue to the early hours and had no issues gaining entry After reading some of yours reviews I can't see anything that mentions the lone drinking policy

I tried to go twice and I got denied to enter both times. I'm not originally from leeds I don't have friends here so I wanted to make friends. I have a very bad social anxiety and street was busy, so I decided to go into this bar, but immediately they said I wasn't allowed to go in. I asked why but they kept ignoring me. I had my ID, I wasn't drunk at all, I was on my own. I'm a gay man but I felt so unwelcome here. They made me feel very depressed and isolated and wonder if it's because it wasn't obvious that I was gay or because I'm not white? Even if it's not why, it is completely fair if they treated me like that. I might try this place again but I'm very scared to even try in case they say no again for no reason.
