About Queer Bar

Set in the heart of Seattle’s Capitol Hill queer arts district, Queer Bar (often styled Queer/Bar) is more than a bar—it’s a vibrant community space that celebrates queer culture through performance, art and nightlife. Housed at 1518 11th Ave. between Pike and Pine, the venue features a spacious main room with a stage, dance floor and ample seating, plus a rotating gallery of local artwork. The décor mixes industrial chic with playful neon, and the atmosphere shifts from casual hangout to high‑energy dance party as the night unfolds. Queer Bar is strictly 21+ and is known for its packed calendar of events. Signature nights include the long‑running MX. drag show featuring top regional drag artists; BurlesKaraoke, which blends burlesque performance with audience‑driven karaoke; Queeraoke Industry Night on Wednesdays; and themed parties like Press Play and Mothership that draw crowds of music lovers, dancers and cosplay enthusiasts. Seasonal pop‑ups—such as the holiday‑themed “How the Queens Stole Christmas” brunch—transform the bar into a festive wonderland with buffet brunches and midday shows. Beyond entertainment, Queer Bar serves a curated menu of cocktails, local beers and comfort‑food bites, with happy‑hour specials that make it a favorite start‑or‑end point for a night out. Visitors consistently note the venue’s inclusive, welcoming vibe. Staff are praised for their friendliness and for fostering a safe space where a diverse crowd—LGBTQ+ locals, tourists and allies—can mingle, dance and express themselves without judgement. The bar’s commitment to showcasing queer talent, from drag queens and DJs to stand‑up comedians and burlesque stars, makes it a cultural hub and a must‑visit for anyone exploring Seattle’s nightlife. Whether you’re there for a high‑octane drag show, a themed dance party or just to soak up the Capitol Hill energy, Queer Bar delivers an unforgettable night out and stands as a beacon of queer community and creativity.

Queer Bar... it's an institution on the Hill. Right now, the holiday vibes are out of this world, I have to say. I'd come here more if the drag shows weren't so deafening, but it's a really lovely community space with great vibes all the time. Right now though, it's the best place I can think to feel outrageously festive, cozy, happy, and to have a lovely time.

I’ve been coming to this bar regularly for years—multiple times a month—and it’s honestly disappointing to see how much things have declined since around October 2025. The overall vibe and quality of service have taken a noticeable hit. The door staff no longer feel welcoming—there’s no greeting, just a quick mention of the cover charge. Inside, the bartending has become inconsistent. On one visit, I watched a bartender repeatedly check a list just to make a drink, and it still ended up being one of the worst I’ve had. Prices at the door have gone up, but the experience hasn’t improved to match. Service can feel noticeably cold or dismissive unless you’re paying for a table. I’ve personally been met with a blunt “did you need something?” while watching others receive much warmer treatment right after. What’s been most frustrating, though, is the shift in crowd behavior. There’s been an increase in people who don’t seem to respect the space or the performers—taking reserved seats, not tipping, crowding walkways, and even touching performers after being told not to. It really takes away from what used to make this place feel special and safe. I used to genuinely enjoy my nights here, but lately I’ve been leaving disappointed more often than not. I hope management takes a closer look at what’s changed and works to bring things back to what they used to be.

They should NOT be having drag shows here. The worse set up. No stage. Just a tiny area. The costs of gross drinks. There needs to be a different queer bar. Drive here from Canada to see Jane Don’t. No entertainment while waiting as she hasn’t got on stage yet…the show should be ending and she hasn’t started

I was actually roofied at this bar and someone left with me falling down on the ground, clearly disheveled and drunk before putting me into his car out front. I heard a man ask if I was okay, but no one at this bar intervened. I was 25 when this happened, I think. Any other bar where I've been so drunk that I'm falling on the ground, the bartender is going to intervene or something. I don't feel safe going back here and haven't since.

We were late on Saturday night and didn’t want to wait in line. So we were back for cold beers Tuesday evening, good selection of cocktails & eats on the menu. Clean, well-kept, fresh decore, comfy environment with a variety of seating areas: booths, small tables & chairs, bench seating, and the bar. Great ambient music. Small well-lit dance floor and if the dance music is as good as the background sounds, this will be a great place to dance on the weekend
