Secret Garden

It's my first day in Sweden and my friend brought me to this club. Such a friendly atmosphere and the staff are lovely! The place is right by the river and decorated with so many colorful flowers. It’s a great idea to stop by!

⭐ 1/5 – Extremely unpleasant experience We came from abroad to Stockholm hoping to enjoy a pleasant night in the city. Unfortunately, our experience at Secret Garden in Gamla Stan was completely unacceptable. Already at the entrance, the security staff behaved aggressively and arrogantly towards guests. In particular, one shorter, long-haired, dark-haired female security guard was extremely confrontational. There was no clear system at the entrance explaining how to enter, and there were no clearly displayed entrance prices. While the woman at the entrance was explaining the entry conditions and price to us, this security guard suddenly approached my 60-year-old female friend from behind, grabbed her and forcefully pushed her towards the street, loudly and arrogantly shouting that she was not allowed to enter because she was “too drunk.” I immediately removed the guard's hands from my friend and made it clear that physically grabbing and pushing a guest was completely unacceptable. There is also an important detail that the security guard apparently did not bother to understand. My friend has difficulty walking because of problems with her legs. She walks with a noticeable sideways movement and leans on her hip, which can easily be misunderstood by someone who makes a superficial judgment about a person's condition. When we tried to explain this, the security guard became even more aggressive and simply said that she did not care. We were not interested in escalating the situation. We are adults, we were not out of control, and rather than argue with security staff, we simply decided to leave. We certainly were not going to spend our money in a place where guests are treated with aggression, disrespect and unnecessary hostility before they have even entered the venue. If security staff are going to make judgments about whether someone is intoxicated or fit to enter, they should at least communicate professionally and respectfully and, most importantly, avoid unnecessary physical contact. We came from abroad expecting a nice evening in Stockholm. Instead, we left feeling shocked and humiliated by the way my friend was treated. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Secret Garden and will not be returning.

They had a wonderful atmosphere and were very respectful, but their Cola tasted like moldy dates, and I could only drink a little of it.

You don’t have to be gay to go to a gay bar!! Amazing venue, great food and as you would fabulous service and decor If you are in Gamla Stan and like a beer and a proper people watch, definitely put this place on your list!

Absolutely the worst gay bar experience (or any bar for that matter) I’ve ever had, anywhere in the world. Got to the entrance and was immediately asked how many drinks we had had that evening. Both my partner and I looked at each other and said we’d had 2 that day. It was midnight. The mall cop bouncer stated that we looked drunk and had bloodshot eyes, which was clearly untrue and we wouldn’t be let in. Huh?? You’re not letting two sober guys into your place because you arbitrarily thought we had too much to drink? Dumbfounded, I calmly asked why he thought that because it clearly was a lie and Paul Blart just kept saying the same thing over and over. No stumbling around by us, no slurring of speech, nothing..again, we were sober. Just ‘we won’t let you in’. Clearly there was some type of profiling going on, whether it was age, or being American, or whatever it was. A terrible first night for our first trip ever to Sweden and we won’t be back. To this bar or to Sweden. Completely ruined our first trip here. So, avoid this place entirely. If management wants to discuss this with me I’d be happy to but I’m positive that’s not going to happen based on similar reviews of this chicken shit ownership. Can’t emphasize this anymore than this: Do not go to Secret Garden. The worst bar I’ve ever been to anywhere in the world. Full stop.
