About The Actors

The Actors is an LGBTQ+ community pub and theatre close to Brighton’s Royal Pavilion. Housed in the historic building formerly associated with the Marlborough Theatre, it has a long connection with Brighton’s queer arts and nightlife scene. The ground-floor pub provides a relaxed place to meet for drinks and food, while the performance spaces host theatre, comedy, cabaret, live music, poetry, workshops and community events. Its programme regularly includes queer-focused nights alongside events celebrating artists and communities that may be underrepresented elsewhere. The Actors is also an established Brighton Fringe venue, presenting an extensive programme of affordable performances each year. Away from festival season, visitors can find open mic nights, quizzes, creative workshops, DJ events and social gatherings throughout the week.

What to expect

A creative and community-focused LGBTQ+ pub with a relaxed daytime and early-evening atmosphere. Events range from informal open mics and social nights to ticketed theatre, comedy and cabaret performances.

It's Brighton, so you anticipate a certain level of diversity and acceptance, this place however - takes it to the next level. The place has a warm cozy feeling, like you are walking into your living room - all be it a bigger, noisier and full of lovely people who are friends you have yet to meet... There are a good range of drinks available, a decent coffee, and a fabulous food menu of hearty, reasonably priced, tasty grub! The atmosphere is so relaxed, welcoming and genuinely warm with the bar staff being the icing on the cake. Will most definitely be coming back time and again when I am in Brighton.

Great place. I always feel welcome here. Staff are super friendly and drinks aren't as expenny as other places. Super lgbtqia+ friendly, I love the atmosphere. I just wish they were open even later! And maybe bar stools would be good ☺️
