About The Kemptown Klub

The Kemptown Klub is a small independent LGBTQ+ private members’ bar on St George’s Road in Kemptown Village. Designed as an intimate alternative to Brighton’s larger nightlife venues, it focuses on personal service, conversation and a friendly community atmosphere. The main upstairs bar serves handcrafted cocktails alongside wines, beers and ciders. Comfortable seating and cosy corners make it suitable for relaxed drinks, meeting friends or starting an evening in Kemptown. Downstairs is The Bothy, a Scottish-inspired bar and social space with a particular focus on whisky. It is used for private gatherings, games nights, celebrations and selected events. The venue runs a changing programme that may include bingo, quizzes, musical singalongs, themed parties and DJ nights. New members are welcome and can join by visiting the club in person.

What to expect

A cosy and sociable LGBTQ+ members’ bar with attentive hosts, carefully made drinks and a mature crowd. The atmosphere is generally conversational and relaxed, becoming livelier during quizzes, parties and DJ events.

Been wanting to try this bar for ages, loved it and look forward to returning. Excellent decor with lots of snug areas to get together with friends. We had several cocktails and our driver friend enjoyed mocktails. Super friendly staff and customers, wish we could have stayed longer, I'd happily sit there all day. Next time we will!

What a wonderful little hideaway! Almost like a tardis..so spacious once inside with a unique & cosy feel. ...perfect decor & wonderful friendly ambience. Good selection of lagers & spirits & served in lovely large glasses by Pete who is so welcoming. Perfect for friends/couples or even singles. Everyone is made to feel at home.

Well, what a lovely find! Our friends introduced us to this charming bar in Kemp Town. Our host Rachel couldn't have been better and the clientele were absolutely charming! Nicely decorated with clean toilets, affordable drinks and an excellent range of drinks. We will definitely go back and recommend this place to all who have a certain sense of interest of in others.

Wonderful place to sit and chat and catch up with friends, new and old. Pete and Rachel are always so welcoming - it’s like a home from home. Get down there for a fab quiz night on a Thursday! The music quiz is a hoot with Big G taking on the role of quiz master once a month too! 🥳🫶🏼🍺
