About The Zone Bar

The Zone Bar is a friendly LGBTQ+ entertainment venue on St James’s Street in the heart of Brighton’s Gay Village. Known for its welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere, the bar attracts local regulars and visitors looking for drinks, conversation and live entertainment. Its weekly programme features drag cabaret, karaoke, bingo and live music, with different performers and events scheduled throughout the week. The compact setting puts guests close to the performers and creates a lively atmosphere during evening shows. The Zone is a relaxed alternative to Brighton’s larger nightclubs, making it suitable for an afternoon drink, an informal evening out or a night of traditional queer cabaret.

What to expect

A casual and sociable LGBTQ+ bar with affordable drinks and regular entertainment. Evenings become livelier during cabaret and karaoke, while daytime visits are generally more relaxed.

I started to visit the zone about a year a go and from the first visit my friend and myself felt very welcome by the staff and management also we made friends very quickly with the other customers who was also very inviting all this on our first visit as for entertainment that's first class and is a mixture of Drag acts and singers plus regular karaoke which we both enjoy. We would highly recommend the zone to anyone who is looking for a good night out with a great atmosphere. I'd also like to ad that the zone welcomes all not just the LGBT Community as I myself am Heterosexual.

I was on my own, Sat 10 May 2025 and was made very welcome by the lovely lady behind the bar (wonderful eye make up!) very friendly and chatty (I was in full leathers for another event) Davina Sparkle was on stage, also very chatty, friendly and seriously funny! A wonderful start to my night out in Brighton. Paul.

This place is one of my favourite places in brighton. It has a great community and the staff are lovely, Skye the bartender is brilliant, she is fun, friendly and makes everyone feel welcome. Thursday karaoke hosted by Alex is always a highlight of my week, she is a great host, and she makes everyone feel comfortable on stage! Also, the drinks are well priced as well, which I'm sure is the main question.

Excellent only been in it once before. Little st James street gem reminds me of what Brighton was back in the 90s when I discovered it.
