About Thi Bar

Thi Bar sits on Bui Vien Street in the heart of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, and offers a relaxed environment for anyone seeking a casual night out. This gay-friendly bar hosts regular live music sessions that feature local bands, giving guests a chance to enjoy Vietnamese pop alongside well-known international tunes. The interior has a simple layout with a modest stage area, bar seating, and a few tables spread around for easy conversation. The overall vibe is laid-back, and people drop by to unwind with a cocktail in hand or chat with friends. Staff members are generally warm, welcoming, and attentive, which makes the experience pleasant for travelers and locals alike. Visitors often appreciate the diverse crowd, as the bar tends to attract a mix of tourists and Ho Chi Minh City residents. Some nights include open-mic sets, letting amateur performers share the stage or showcase acoustic sets that vary the pace. The drinks menu features local beer and common cocktails, without leaning toward flashy presentations or high-end fusions. It is located a short walk from other popular nightlife spots, and there is an active street scene to explore nearby. Thi Bar opens daily and typically stays lively until late evening hours.

They obviously scammed me, and when I confronted them they „apologized“ for scamming me. This was my experience as a oversea Vietnamese who speaks Vietnamese: this was my second visit after i came here last year. I visit my motherland once a year. I appreciated the live music so i came here this night for the same reason. The location is huge but was almost empty. We ordered two local beer (85K VND for one bottle, two bottle = 170K) when the young short hair girl brought the drinks, she also gave wet tissues which in in vietnam will be extra charged and she opened it without asking us if we will use it or not. I was curious, if they will charge it to us or not. Anyway, we had our drinks, we enjoyed the live music singers and had a pleasant evening. The same young girl lighted incense sticks to buddha next to me probably to have better luck and more costumers as i said the bar was almost empty. When i asked for the bill inwas not surprised: they overcharged us with the wet tissues. I told them in Vietnamese, we didn’t use it, then of course she acted surprised. I gave her 200K and expected to receive 30K back but she only returned me 2K. So even minus the 10K wet tissues, she overcharged me. Don’t get me wrong, i‘m not stingy, for only spending 1h there i tipped the singers 500K, but then i confronted them why they tried to scam me they apologized and said „im sorry brother its only few tousand dong, she didn’t knew you are vietnamese“ but i noticed and said, she only opened the tissues for us but not to westerners and told her that this is a scam and this so so wrong. I came here for a second time trying to support your business but all you could think is thinking short term and scamming costumers for a few thousand Dong. This is very typical short term vietnamese mindset which i as a vietnamese hate and i will never come back. This males me sad to see that many vietnamese people are not able to think longterm and provide good costumer service. Also this bar says its lgbtq friendly, fot those who think its a gay bar where you can meet gay people, forget it, its not. And a message to the young girl who scammed me, from a buddhist person to an other buddhist: you can light intence sticks everyday to buddha it does not help you as long as you have a dark heart. I hope for the rest of your life you will have bad karma, this is how buddhism works. I hope you are happy and proud of these thousand Dong. Also as a Buddhist I know, your business will always have bad luck, because of your action. If you want to support scammers come here. If you want to support honest people, avoid this place

Amazing place. We already know a lot of LGBTQ Places across Vietnam and across the world. And this is one of my favorites. Friendly people, friendly staff and owner. Felt welcome the whole time. We definitely come back when we are in Vietnam again! 🙏🏽🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Amazing music band. Acceptable price! Good place to try in Saigon

Review from Google Maps

I gave them 4 stars for the food because they don’t have any food only nuts and peas. But the manager was kind enough to let my chicken go inside because I was really starving but didn’t want to miss the band. The band was really great specially the girl with the black shirt.

The atmosphere of the bar is lovely, very welcoming and friendly. I also loved the decor. I went around 9:45, before their live music set began at 10:00, and it was relatively quiet. People started filling in after 10. The bartenders were attentive and friendly, and the regulars were quite welcoming.
