About Kafe Kweer

Kafe Kweer gave Edinburgh’s LGBTQ+ community a daytime, alcohol-free place to meet from 2020 to 2025. The small café near the Union Canal served coffee, cakes and vegan food while hosting queer art, zine groups, workshops and low-key community events. The owners closed the permanent café when its lease ended on 1 September 2025. This archived page remains online to preserve the venue’s place in Edinburgh’s queer history and prevent visitors from following older guides to the former address.

An Edinburgh institution! Not only a brilliant queer friendly place but also a lovely cafe with vegan menu, rescue bread & pastries, small shop featuring queer artists and selling vegan goodies. This place also does frequent events including drag evenings, poetry readings and clothes swaps. Immaculate vibe!

A great cafe with delicious goodies. You can also purchase re-fills of goods and plenty of art. A wonderful gem which also celebrates and promotes diversity Edit: it also supports local artists!

Grabbed some takeaway coffee. Delicious! Served with a smile and the cups are so much nicer than the Starbucks Xmas cups! Kafe Kweer welcomes everyone so pop in when passing and enjoy the food, drink and good vibes. 💕🌈☕

Today was my first time at Kafe Kweer and let me tell you, It was fabulous experience. Coffee super delicious, wrap of the day super yummy and the service was lovely and warm. Definitely recommend Kafe Kweer. Big star 🌟

Would give this place 10 stars if I could. Fantastic owner, fantastic food, all vegetarian. Fantastic art down the stairs and one of the only sober LGBTQIA places I know of. They also hold lots of events down stairs and they're VERY reasonably priced.
